Making the Most

Happy Easter! I hope you all are in a food coma right now like I am! We've had a nice relaxing weekend here in the (future) Hausmann family house.

We spent some time yesterday doing this (Well, Kyle did)....Reused picture. I didn't take any yesterday. Womp Womp. I may have been a little grumpy at the start. Two nights in a row of not sleeping well will do that to you.

And then we spent some time doing this....

There were a lot of different groups at the park barbecuing (spell check isn't flagging that so I guess it's okay? I never really know how to spell barbecue..or barbeque..or BBQ) and that set off the craving. We live right down the street from a Dickey's but we decided that just wasn't going to cut it yesterday. So, we went on the hunt for a Rudy's. We normally go to the one in Frisco (especially when we lived in Addison) so we planned to go there and make a fun get out of the house stop at StoneBriar Mall.

I got some sweet new kicks...

 Women's Nike Free 5.0 V4 Running Shoes
I've been a loyal Reebok girl for awhile now but I can't find any new ones that I like. I like the real flex soles but the new style doesn't feel the same. Honestly, I don't like the look Nike has been going for lately either but I did really like this pair so I went for it. My reeboks got muddy at the park yesterday and I was already in need of some new ones to wear to the gym. So it was the perfect excuse to buy some new ones. Obviously because I can wash my reeboks tonight and wear my new ones to class tomorrow. I wore these on a bike ride this morning and they felt great!

I'm not giving up my quest for some Reebok Nanos yet though. Even though I don't do crossfit ( so expensive!).  I never see them in stores so you must have to buy them from Reebok directly.

We also had a good talk about our plans for the future. We have talked a lot about things just in passing, but we really hadn't talked specifics. What are our goals for after we get married? Do we stay where we are? What do we think about buying a house? What does our savings account look like? Where do we want it to be? What does our "family timeline" look like? All of those things. Luckily, we are on the exact same page. I'm really excited about our life together. We might be young and poor, but we are happy :)

Heehee ;)

Just kiddingggggg!

I did pretty good with my eats last week. Until the weekend where I stuffed my face with cake (twice). Oh well. That's what you do on Easter. Tomorrow is a new day! I plan to start my day off with some "Oatmeal Minus the Oats". I LOVE oatmeal but >protein = more full, happier Allie. I'll share the recipe if it turns out well! We bought "stuff" for a couple of meals last week that we just didn't get to so it was an easy store trip today!

The Weekender Returns

We're back from a whirlwind weekend to Hot Springs Village, AR. We had a nice visit with Kyle's grandparents, but it was cold so we didn't get out much. It's super beautiful there though. You might've seen this picture on my facebook page. :)

We agreed that we will be taking another trip to visit once it warms up a bit. Even though we had a super relaxing weekend, I'll admit that part of the reason why I'm even writing this post is to stay awake just a bit longer. Traveling wipes me out.  I was a bit off the grid over the weekend (barely checked facebook, instagrams, blogs, etc.). It was nice but I'm glad to be back! I can't wait to wake up tomorrow and get back on my routine. I missed my gym time today, but luckily my schedule tomorrow has room to make it up.  Kyle's grandparents were very gracious in accommodating my tricky food needs. I try not to make a big deal out of it because I hate to be that high maintenance girl. Needless to say, I ate a lot of waffles and cookies and they were delicious.

It seems like everything these days gets me excited about our wedding. Besides the obvious bonus of marrying my very best friend. I'm like "Oh! I get to see you again at our wedding!" "Oh! We're all going to have so much fun at our wedding!" And so on and so forth. One of the main pieces of advice we've heard across the board is to make sure you slow down and enjoy it. We're definitely keeping that in mind.

We have a bit of a breather in our crazy month now. The next big event we have is our engagement pictures being taken on April 9th. Then, the following weekend is my mom's wedding. Fun things on the horizon!

Being out of town over the weekend always throws me a bit off. We don't have groceries and the house could use some cleaning, but instead of doing either of those things, I'm writing this post. I'm being very productive. :) Plus, I'm going to be a day behind all week since tomorrow will feel like Monday instead of Tuesday. Oh well, we can get all caught up next weekend.

Short and sweet today. I hope the week is starting off well for you!

Day In the Life & WIAW

Sometimes I sit down to  write a blog and can't think of anything to say because it feels ridiculous. Truth is though, we all like to snoop on each other (and why Facebook will never go away). Every time I feel dumb writing a post, I think about whether I would read this entry on the four million blogs I read.  Usually, the answer is yes.

So in the interest of you snoopers, let's do a day in the life of Allison.

My weekly schedule changes a bit based on my work schedule. This is a typical Wednesday.

Wake up: eat breakfast and read blogs.

Favorite breakfast this week is gluten free oats, with powdered peanut butter (same as PB2), egg whites and sweetened with a bit of Stevia. Oatmeal stopped keeping me full all of a sudden so I tried adding some egg whites for protein. Worked like a charm! Coffee not pictured.

Then it's off to work!

A theme of client thank you notes seems to be fashion. I guess my pants are a little loud?

Lunch! I've been on a salad kick this week..it's so easy and delicious. My eating last week was not as clean as I like to be so I made a bit more of an effort to stay on track this week. (Until today. Oops. You win some and you lose some.) I know my stomach doesn't do well with a lot of dairy but I am addicted to this yogurt. I need a 10 step program.

On Wednesdays I usually get off around 5-5:30 and say hello to Kyle before heading back out to the gym. If the weather is nice, Kyle often goes to play disc golf. I don't usually get off of work on time on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays to make the time and class that I like at my gym so I rotate rest days, Jillian Michael's workouts, outside cardio and active recovery on those days. I don't like to go to the gym when I get home late because I miss hanging with Kyle and the kitties, dinner is too late, etc. (If you're new around here, I am a worthless early morning exerciser...picture a zombie trying to run on a treadmill)
http://distilleryimage11.s3.amazonaws.com/448de3b291c211e29d7122000a1f97c6_7.jpg

Yesterday I warmed up on the treadmill before heading to strength training class. It's so much more enjoyable with other people than doing it on your own. Growing up, I never liked sports and was always the one getting called out in gym class for sucking. I didn't care enough about sports to try and I shut down in situations that make me anxious. At least I'm aware right?  But it turns out that I am competitive with myself. I am addicted to feeling myself get stronger/faster/ etc. If I can ever figure out how to take an acceptable selfie, I can show you my brand new shiny shoulder and back muscles. They are babies, but I'm pretty proud.

We meet back at the house around 7pm and throw together some dinner. Kyle and I just discovered the beauty of frozen vegetables. They do the trick when we need to put together a fast dinner! I did actually cook salmon last night though.

In the evenings Kyle and I always hang out in the same room even if we are doing different things. My evening activities always include some couch snuggling.

15 Year Old Me Says Hello

I think everyone experiences that moment in life where you realize how old you are and how fast time passes. And you're like whatttttt...you're 25. Yeah, but in my head, I swear I could still be 15.

And these kids are like..."But you're not."

http://distilleryimage7.s3.amazonaws.com/76dff0aa8dc411e2b9fd22000a1fbc16_7.jpg

"Oh my goose.. I just might die without my phoneeeeee...and {insert dumb rapper or boy band or Justin Beiber  boy band guy trying to be a rapper}. YOLO. "

And I see Drake and all I can think of is "OMG Jimmy finally got out of that wheelchair!!" #canadianactornotfromtheghetto

I know my *future* kids will someday think I am the most uncool person in the world. But I was once, or at least I was trying to be just like every teenager is still. The story of the glory days in movies always revolves around that football game or whatever. But for me and my friends, it's all about the music.  If I'm being perfectly honest, you'll still find the music I listened to in high school on my slacker station. And I listen to it every day.

 Where'd this music go?

Don't do drugs kids. Unless you're trying to make an awesome album.  Some things never change. A band's first album is always the best. There's something about being real and honest and on drugs that you just can't recreate once your ego is up and you've been to rehab, everything is made by the computer record execs get a hold of you.

That genuine rawness of people and emotions is hard to come by. You really don't get it from radio music these days. I'm sorry, but you can't tell me that you connect on a deep level with Lil Wayne. If you do, you need to go to rehab you need a reality check.

Life isn't about getting money or bleeping lady friends (editing brought to you by me). It's wonderful, awful, messy, fantastic, horrible and raw. It's about feeling feelings. When you're fifteen, you feel feelings so raw that you think you just might die. And sometimes when you're eighteen, twenty-five, fifty and ninety-eight. That's life ya'll.

Don't waste an opportunity to feel those fifteen year old feelings in a room with 200 of your closest friends.

I tried to dig up a great 15 year old emo Allison picture for you but it turns out that I deleted my myspace in a moment of clarity  weakness.

duckface is the best I can do.

Overshare Saturday

Welcome to crazy month March! Our to-do list around these parts is packed to the brim.

Tomorrow we are having an early Easter dinner with Kyle's family.
Then we have my aunt's wedding next Saturday. I'm honored to be doing a reading during her ceremony, so we have a rehearsal/dinner Friday evening and then the wedding on Saturday. It'll be a nice run-through for Kyle with my gigantic family who he will see again in October.
Next weekend will be followed by a trip to Arkansas the next weekend to visit Kyle's grandparents. We're blessed to have such a large family on both sides who love and support us!

Oh yeah, and we're planning that whole wedding thing. ;) Turns out that October is the most popular wedding month of the year in Texas, so I have had to get most of the major planning out of the way.

Next up...food and drinks! I know they are very important pieces but honestly, they just weren't at the top of my priority list. Also, you can't really secure them that far in advance, nor do you need to. But for budget reasons, I need to get at least an idea pretty soon! Our engagement photography session is coming up next month and I couldn't be more excited!

Even with our busy schedule, I feel like I have been do a lot better with that balance problem I've been battling. Good things are coming people!

Two of my favorite things this week ( and every week)

http://distilleryimage3.s3.amazonaws.com/92bfeb2a60c111e2b2c322000a1f9804_7.jpghttp://distilleryimage7.s3.amazonaws.com/ad57ee7085f011e2bba622000a1fbc9c_7.jpg

I have to admit that before these two, it had been awhile since I had a really strong bond with a cat. I've had cats for a long time but with the distraction of dogs, it's sometimes hard to really build that bond.

Mayhem (on the right) is our puppy. He needs to be involved in everything we do. That includes putting up the groceries, hanging a picture, taking a shower, etc. Every morning he hangs out in between the shower curtains while I take a shower and every evening he snuggles on the couch with me (unless Kyle is going to the kitchen because we keep the toy in there).  We're pretty sure he is incapable of hissing.

Danger is more of the typical cat type. She likes pets and cuddles but only on her schedule. She comes up for a pet from Kyle every night before we go to sleep. She's definitely Kyle's girl but is coming around to me again slowly but surely. (She went in to heat twice before she was fixed and it changed her personality. She became a little grumpier and didn't want to hang out with me as much for whatever reason.) She also follows us from room to room but is usually hanging back being a creeper as opposed to Mayhem who is always all up in our business.

We adopted both of them from shelters as kittens. We rescued Mayhem off of death row (He wouldn't let people touch him. HA! What a change!) It has been so interesting to watch them grow up and develop such distinct personalities. It goes to show that nurture definitely plays a part with nature. We like to sit around and watch My Cat from Hell and talk about what awesome cat parents we are. You know, like you watch wife swap to remember how normal your family is.

One day I just woke up and suddenly I was a boring grownup. I make sure to eat enough greens each week, enjoy my coffee in the morning while I read the newspaper blogs, and write about my cats on Saturday night.

Sorry I'm not sorry ;)
